This abstract landscape deals with man's continuing efforts to understand the universe, and his place in it. It is a highly abstracted, visual representation of this process being carried out through aeons of time. The movements of the various tectonic plates (the earth's crust is divided into several plates, or pieces) represent man's changing understanding of his world through time. Yes, knowledge is as fleeting as the soliditiy of the earth beneath his feet. If you have ever lived on the west coast of California, you understand this well.
